Happy New Year!

Rebekah had a wild New Year's Eve. Below is a video of Rebekah living it up:

Good thing Dad told Rebekah to hold on tight! (Believe it or not, she did ask to ride again.)

Merry Christmas!

While Rebekah didn't completely understand what was going on today, she knew it was good when she saw all of her presents awaiting her this morning.

Mom asked Rebekah, "What is today?"
She said, "Ummmm...Halloween?"
Mom said, "Nooo...what is today?"
She said, "Ummmm...Friday?"

Well, it was neither of those days. It was Christmas and Rebekah started off the day with quite a haul. Here she is checking out her new barn set:

Here she is already eyeing the next gift:

Here she is peeking into Uncle Gerry and Aunt Bobbi's exquisitely packaged gift (in which she gladly found a lot of Curious George items):

Here she is admiring her stylish apparel from her buddy, Andrew:

Here she is grinning at her Legos from her friends, Jen and Steve:

Rebekah was happy to see that Grandpa Wright helped her along with her train collection:

While Rebekah will surely enjoy all of her presents, Mom and Dad hope that Rebekah learns that today is not about receiving gifts but about appreciating your friends, family, and everything else that you already have in life. Merry Christmas!

Thomas the Tank Engine

Rebekah is a Thomas the Tank Engine enthusiast. She loves to read Thomas books, watch Thomas on TV, and play with Thomas toys. Here she is on Sunday afternoon with a big grin on her face while she plays at a Thomas train table:

ZooLights

Rebekah braved the cold for the National Zoo's ZooLights celebration on Saturday night. Rebekah walked around the zoo and checked out the animated light displays and visited the animal houses. Rebekah's favorite part was seeing the orangutans and gorillas sleeping just inches away from her.

Rebekah is already clamoring for another visit. Luckily, ZooLights continues on through the rest of the year.

Holiday Season Kick-Off

The holiday season kicked off for Rebekah today with the 13th annual Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade in downtown Silver Spring. She also attended in 2008 and 2009 and, as she gets older, her level of enjoyment increases with each year.

Rebekah was happy that the weather turned out well for the parade. Earlier this week, it was cold and rainy.

Happy Halloween!

Believe it or not, Rebekah is once again a pink bunny for Halloween again this year. Despite Mom's efforts, Rebekah would not tolerate wearing other costumes. Luckily, Mom found the same pink bunny outfit in a larger size and so Rebekah has ended up repeating Halloween 2009. Here she is heading to downtown Silver Spring on Saturday afternoon for their children's Halloween bash.

Countdown to Halloween

As seen on the blog earlier this month, Rebekah attended Pumpkin Festival 2010 in Germantown, Maryland. With Halloween now only a week away, Mom, Dad, and Rebekah carved Rebekah's pumkpin. Okay, Mom actually did all the work while Dad watched Rebekah run in circles.

Here is Rebekah during the two-minute span that she was willing to sit still during the pumpkin's operation:

And here is Rebekah sitting on the front steps in the dark with her jack-o'-lantern all lit up:

Old Town Alexandria

Yesterday afternoon, Rebekah strolled around Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. Surrounded by historic sites, shops, and restaurants, all Rebekah cared about was sitting at the waterfront and watching airplanes land and catfish eat potato chips.

Here is Rebekah telling Mom to "sit down" on the bench and admire the view. She was also screaming, "Airplane!," and telling the airplanes to "come on in!"

And here is Rebekah getting a close up of the catfish eating potato chips:

Pumpkin Festival 2010

October means pumpkin time so Rebekah went to Butler's Orchard in Germantown, Maryland, today for Pumpkin Festival 2010. Pumpkin Festival is really geared towards kids her age so she had a great day at the farm.

Rebekah enjoyed sliding down the hill (over and over...):

However, Rebekah failed to get the point of the various cut-out boards:

She did understand the point of the hayloft - make a huge mess and bury Mom:

Rebekah also got to see some farm animals, including a baby pig sleeping. She whispered to Mom and Dad, "Shhh!! Baby pig sleeping!" Rebekah ended her trip with a hayride out to the pumpkin patch and found the most perfect pumpkin in the world. Here she is admiring her selection on the bumpy and windy ride back to the festival:

Next weekend, Rebekah hopefully will like seeing her prized pick of the patch carved into a jack-o'-lantern.

Fall Festivals

The start of the fall season means the start of the fall festival season. Each community has a celebration and Rebekah tries to get out to them when she can. Today, she attended the Takoma Park Street Festival in Takoma Park, Maryland. Even though the crowds were a little overwhelming at times...

Rebekah had a good time.

Gravelly Point

Rebekah spent some time this afternoon watching planes land at Gravelly Point, a park next to Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Virginia. See below for Rebekah's responses to watching planes zoom over her head and land so close to her.

Patiently waiting for the next plane...

As the plane approaches, it's a real nail-biter for Rebekah:

The excitement of hearing and seeing a plane right over Rebekah's head:

Now the plane has landed, which required Rebekah to point and state each time, "I saw the plane."

The Socialite

Rebekah has attended a few birthday parties in the last few weeks, including her own. Rebekah celebrated her second birthday at Wheaton Regional Park...

...cruised out to Ashburn, Virginia, for Aaron's third birthday party...

...and just returned today from Richmond, VA, after attending Morris's third birthday party on Saturday. After returning from Richmond, Rebekah returned to Wheaton Regional Park for another spin on the carousel and a ride on the train.

Rebekah has really enjoyed her summer but she will probably welcome the cooler temperatures that come with the fall.

Happy Second Birthday!

Mom and Dad are very proud of Rebekah and would like to wish her a super second birthday. Over the last year, she has morphed into quite the little person with a vocabulary that grows every day.

Here is Rebekah showing off her "cools" (sunglasses):

And here is the face that Rebekah makes when Mom says, "I like your teeth!"

Rebekah had a little party with her friends at "school" (daycare) today and she is ready to party again on Saturday! Hope to see you there!

Girl on the Go

Rebekah has been a busy girl. With the longer days and warmer temperatures, Rebekah has been living it up this summer. Whether out on the town...

...or staying inside and coloring, reading, and working her puzzles,

she's been having a good time. Rebekah has also started going to a new daycare, which she calls "school." She has only had one timeout there; one day, she repeatedly removed everyone's artwork off the walls. She's been toeing the line ever since though. Rebekah is also banned from painting after she was caught sucking on a green tube of paint during art time. Of course, her favorite thing about school is seeing all of her friends. Unfortunately, her good buddy, Jake, recently moved away. Here they are together on his last day:

This past weekend, Rebekah visited Andrew for his third birthday party. Not only did she have a good time at his party, she was also particularly fond of visiting the children's section of the Norfolk Botanical Garden. Here she is splashing it up:

And here is Andrew, cheesing it up:

Rebekah hopes that Andrew had a good birthday weekend. She is already off to a great summer herself.

Backyard Fun

The warmer temperatures are finally here to stay and Rebekah has been taking advantage of the outdoors. Here is Rebeakah in a typical pose - left thumb in mouth, right hand twirling her hair, and looking for a "helicopt" in the sky:

Easter Weekend

Rebekah had a great Easter weekend with her friends - sliding at the park, chasing bubbles, and just running in circles. Here she is popping bubbles:

And here is the group portrait with (L-R) Rebekah, Ewan, Dorothy, Andrew, and an escaping Morris:

On Sunday, Rebekah found out that the Easter Bunny had left her a basket of goodies. She was very excited.

Rebekah would like to thank Andrew for being a very accommodating host.

Kid Fest 2010

Rebekah is currently in Norfolk, Virginia, visiting some of her pals for the weekend. Rebekah is catching up on old times with Andrew and Morris and meeting new baby friends, Dorothy and Ewan. Instead of taking her nap, here she is sitting up in bed at Andrew's house, ready to play:
